After stories drawing obvious comparisons between Raja Ravi Varma's life and Randeep Hooda's upcoming film Rang Rasiya, the film's producers Deepa Sahi and Anand Mahendroo and director Ketan Mehta have inserted a disclaimer, two days before the release of the film stating it is just a work of fiction.
Says a source close to the film, "The producers of the film have inserted a disclaimer that the film is a work of fiction, and is based on the book written by Ranjit Desai. The film was cleared by the CBFC in 2008, but the insertion had to be made after Raja Ravi Varma's family objected to the film and publicity material that hinted at their ancestor and his life."
